How You Can Set Up A Blog or Website, By Using Wordpress

How to Create a Website – The Basics

I'm Ted Trainer, a professional web designer.
I wrote this beginner's guide to help the large number of people who want to create a website, but have absolutely no idea of what to do.
In this Website Setup Guide, I show you exactly how to set up a proper, normal website with a .com domain name, from start to finish. You don't need to know anything about computers or websites, to follow this guide and make a website of your own.
Creating a website and running it this way will cost you about $3-4 per month in total. The information in this site is all free.
Thousands of people from all around the world have set up successful small business websites, personal websites, and blogs, by following these instructions. It's easy to create a website by following this guide, but if you ever get stuck, you can email me, and I'll be happy to help.

Making a website – An overview

Take note of this overview. It's important.
To create a website, you only need to do these two things:
  • Sign up for website hosting, and choose a domain name (i.e. something.com).
  • Create your website.
In steps two and three of this site, I will explain how web hosting works, and how to create a website. Step 4 (Extra Information)provides lots of general information related to setting up a website. Step 5 (Start Making Your site) covers all the actual instructions you need to follow, to set up your site. If you don't want to learn anything, you can just skip to step 5 if you like

How to Set Up a Blog, by Using WordPress

I'm Ted Trainer, a professional web designer.

Setting up a blog, in a nutshell

Take note of this overview. It's important.
To set up a blog, you only need to do these two things:
  • Sign up for web hosting, and choose a domain name (i.e. something.com).
  • Use WordPress to create your blog.
In steps two and three of this site, I will explain how web hosting works, and how to create a blog. Step 4 (Extra Information)provides lots of general information related to setting up a website/blog, and Step 5 (Start Making Your site) covers the actual instructions you need to follow, to set up your blog.

Domain Name & Web Hosting

What is a domain name?

A domain name is the internet address of a website or blog. (For example, websitesethttp://01blogging.blogspot.com is the domain name of this site.) You'll need to choose a domain name.
If you already have a domain name, that's fine. I'll tell you how to use that.

Some domain name advice

  • Your domain name should be simple, obvious, and as short as possible.
  • It's more important to make your domain name memorable and speak able than it is to make it accurate. Don't stuff your whole business name into your domain name. (e.g. Maude Smither Landscaping & Gardening should use smitherlandscaping.com, not maudeslandandgdn.com)
  • Don't use numbers or dashes (without very good reason). They look gimmicky.

What is web hosting?

Web hosting is where your website (or blog) actually sits, on a computer, in a building somewhere, when you put it on the internet. It doesn't matter where in the world you're located, or where your web hosting is located.
Web hosting is the only thing you have to pay for, to set up a website. Everything else can be done for free.
Cost: $3-4 per month.

My recommendation for web hosting

Choosing a web hosting provider is not easy. There's a huge number of very similar web hosts out there, and 99% of the information about them is bogus. Feel free to do your own research into web hosting, but I think you'll find it mind-boggling.

Whether they say so or not, all sites that recommend web hosting receive payment from the web hosting company, for the promotion of their product. Because of this, the internet is littered with sites that promote any and every web host, regardless of the quality of those hosts.
Typically, the person making the recommendation has no knowledge of the host. This makes it extremely difficult for a novice to find accurate information about web hosting.

Readers of this guide typically just want me to recommend a web host to them, so I only recommend one host Host Gator. It's the host I use myself. It's simple, reliable, and much cheaper than most alternatives. I also believe in doing business ethically, so I like to be upfront about the fact that this site is supported by commissions from some of the products, including web hosting, that it recommends.

Host Gator gives a free domain name (normally $15-20 a year), and also gives visitors to this site a 47% discount off their prices.Signing up with Host Gator takes about ten minutes. (This is fully explained in Step 5 – Start Making Your Site, but but here's the link to there sight, if you want to visit them now.) If you use Host Gator, I can tell you exactly what to do, to set up your website or blog.(Disclaimer: Website Setup Guide receives compensation for some of the products it recommends.)

Next step: Creating a website (or blog)

Now that you know what a domain name and web hosting are, the next step is to learn how you actually make your site/blog.

Designing a Website or Blog – How it Works

WordPress

WordPress is the system I recommend you use to design and manage your site (or blog). It's a very popular completely-online system that lets you easily build a professional-looking website/blog without any technical know-how.
There is no additional cost to use WordPress.
Once you've signed up for web hosting, setting up WordPress on Host Gator web hosting is very easy. Full instructions are in Step 5 (Start Making Your Site).

Overview of WordPress

In WordPress, all you need to do is type in the text of your pages, and (if you like) add some pictures. WordPress will create the pages, apply your site's layout to them, and add a link to each one from the menu bar. If your site is a blog, you can easily make new posts. WordPress will add them to the top of the blog page for you, and manage visitor comments (if you allow comments.)
In WordPress, you don't design a layout. You just choose one. You can't edit these layouts, but you can very easily change major features, like the background color and header picture. This makes things very easy.
WordPress operates from the internet, through your browser. Because of this, it works on any computer (PC, Mac, etc) or device (smart phones, iPhone, iPad etc.) with internet access. If you can browse the internet, you can use WordPress.

What a WordPress Website Looks Like

This is a screenshot of a typical WordPress website, using the default Twenty Eleven graphical theme. It's very simple and professional.
You can very easily choose a much fancier theme if you like, and change themes at any time. There are thousands of themes to choose from.

How WordPress Works

This is a screenshot of WordPress's Control Panel. You get here by clicking a little "log in" link that will be on your site, and then typing in a password.
Everything in WordPress is done from this Control Panel. At the left is a list of all the settings you can change, and things you can do. It's all very simple.

Next step: More Information

You've now read through the important steps of making a website. However, there are lots more important things you probably want to know about, before you start work on your site.

General Information

Ready to Start Making Your Site?

Creating your own website (or blog) is exciting stuff. Let's begin.
To have your own site, all you need to do is follow the instructions in the yellow box below. It should take about ten minutes.
Important: Please note that you don't need to download or upload anything, go to any website other than HostGator's, or do anything other than what's in this box. Just do this step, and you'll have your own website.
It's all pretty simple, but you can always talk to HostGator's Live Chat if you get stuck, or have any questions.

Complete instructions for setting up a website/blog

  1. Click here if your ready to get started(Make sure you visit Host Gator by clicking this link, because right now they're offering a 47% discount, to readers of this guide.)
  2. Go to the your website, and click on Control Panel, if you're not already there.
Click on WordPress, then Install, then Complete.
    Click Site URL.
Congratulations! Your site is now online. It usually takes a few hours for your local internet provider to discover your new site, but you can visit (and work on) your site at username.hostgator.com in the meantime (replace username with the user name you chose when signing up with hostgator.) hostgator's Live Chat will be able to help you if you have any questions or problems.

Extra things you'll probably want to do once your website is up

You can play around with WordPress yourself if you like, but you'll find it much easier if you refer to these instructions (below) instead.
Start Here: Log in to the WordPress control panel
Click the "Log in" link on your site.
Ignore the Jetpack section.
Create/edit a page
Click Pages, then click Add New.
(You may want to untick Allow Comments here. Click Screen Options, Discussion, to see this option.)
Make your main page not be a blog
By default, the main page of your site is a blog, with one post on it. That's fine if your site is a blog, but otherwise, you should choose a different page to be your main page. (Don't just edit the blog post that's there. If you do that, it will still have the date, category and "Leave a Reply" on it.)
Create a new page, as in the step above. Then click Settings, Reading, and press the little button next to A static page.
Click the Front Page dropdown box, and choose the page you just created (you can make a new page first, or just choose the Sample Page if it's the only page there.) Click Save Changes.
If you still want a blog, you can choose another page to be your "posts page".
Remove the "Leave a Reply" box
While you're writing a page, click Screen Options at the top right, and then tick Discussion. The Allow Comments box will appear at the bottom of the page. Untick it.
To have comments turned off on all new pages by default, click Settings, Discussion.Untick all three Default article settings boxes. Click Save Changes.
Add a blog post
Click Posts, then Add New.
Edit the links at the right of the page
Click Appearance, Widgets.
Change the title and "Just another..." slogan
Click Settings, General.
Change the Site Title and Tagline.
Important: Never change the WordPress address (URL) and Site address (URL) boxes on this page.
Insert a picture or video
While you're editing a page, click Add Media (it's next to Upload/Insert.)
Click the Detailed instructions button below, for information about aligning pictures properly.
Create a link
While editing a page or a post, select some text. Then click the little "chain" icon.
Change the header picture
Click AppearanceHeader.
Choose a new design for your website (optional)
Click Appearance, Themes.
If there's something you want to do, that's not covered on this chart, please don't get discouraged.see the Blog Success and List of Common Questions & Issues link.

If you're having trouble with any of these instructions, or you can't get your site to look how you want it to, then please try

Extra: Plugins

Plugins are significant extra features you can add to your site/blog. There are thousands of plugins available. They're easy to install, and can do almost anything.
Block spam (strongly recommended)
Anyone with a new blog should watch out for "comment spam" – unrelated comments like "great post, I agree" that also contain links. These are automated messages posted by robots. They're not real comments. The Akismet plugin blocks this comment spam.
The Akismet plugin comes with WordPress, but is not activated by default. Activate it in the plugins section, then follow its instructions, to get an "API key". If you tell the Akismet site that your site/blog is a personal blog, then you can get Akismet for free.
Add a contact form (so people can email you)
I recommend Grunion Contact Form.

·         3.  Strategic Marketing Tips Blog I’m so glad you’ve decided to read this report. As a thank you for taking this step towards your own business, I’d like to give you a second report as a BONUS, to help you get lots of traffic to your blog and article contents you create. -- 3 Ted Trainer but first things first.....
·         4- Strategic Marketing Tips Blog How to Research Hot Topic Ideas for Your Blog in 10 steps1.Googles Free Keyword Tool Let the customers tell you what they want to read, and listen to them. Use Keywords Research Tools to dig up key phrases that your prospective customers are currently querying in the Search Engines, so that you can build these words into your blog posts. Doing this will ensure that your posts will show up at the top of the search engines when your target customers come searching. Here’s how to go about digging up those hot phrases: · Write 10 keywords around the topics you have in mind, to write on. · Next go to Google Keyword Tool and type in your desired keyword > Choose 5 to 10 most relevant keywords with the highest search volumes.2. Poll This is another way to listen to your market needs, but here an even more specific market – your own readers and subscribers. · If they ask from you, they are more likely to read it – and you gain their loyalty. You know it’s hard to get a few first time readers and so whatever you can do to keep the ones you already have happy, do it fast. · Ask your readers and /or subscribers for what they’d like to read about. Find the questions asked by most people, to get an idea of the most recurring areas of needs. · You can leave this question on your side bar or send it to subscribers via email.3. Amazon.Com Knowing the books your target customers are buying the most will give you an idea of the kind of topic your prospective customers would be most interested in reading. Use your keywords to search for best-selling books on Amazon.Com. Note what the topics are on. Read the reviews to get an insight of why the readers like the books – those are hot buttons and should give you ideas current market / readers’ needs to blog about.4. Forums The forum is a very good way to enter the minds of your atTed Trainer
·         5. - Strategic Marketing Tips Blog customers. This is because many people go to the forums looking to get insights on issues from others who “know better, from experience”. They come asking questions and seeking advice, to enable them make decisions. There are two ways to do this. The first is visiting the known Forums and the second is letting Google lead you to Forums discussing topics on your keywords.Forums can give you an idea of what your prospect is thinking of, the questions they are asking, the problems they need to solve. Those are“unfilled needs” and you can write posts to address them, so that your post can have a chance to show up when someone is searching for answers on that. Method 1: Visit 5 to 10 popular forums in your niche. Search for the most active topics with the most responses. Go in there and read through the posts to get ideas – what questions are recurring among the forum posters? What words are recurring? The posters asking questions could just be your readers and your readers may be having the same problems and interested in the answers you can provide. Method 2: Google Search under Discussions. You’ll find results from forums and groups. Type your key phrases in to Google Search box. Then click “Discussions “on the left side bar, under “Everything”. Next scan about 5 or more forum and/or group websites in search results. How would you find hot topic ideas? Look out for topics with high number of views and / or replies; observe recurring patterns, words and terms. Those are hot topic ideas on unmet market needs. 5 Ted Trainer
·         6.After this you can go do some research and blog a response on the topics and even come back to the forums to provide quality answers to the forum questions, thus showing off your “expertise” subtly. Many forum members would certainly trail you back to your blog URL in your signature.5. Other Blogs Other peoples’ blogs are good sources of writing inspiration. The idea here is to follow the leaders and trend-setters in your niche. Follow but do not copy their works. What do I mean here? Take a time frame of the past 30 days and see “what’s hot in the leaders’ circle”, what’s trending in the top blogs in your niche. That should give you an idea of “what’s hot” in the market. This is a layman’s way to piggy-back on those that “everyone knows” always put forward their writings only when they have done a proper market research. There are three ways to do this. You can either start from the popular blogs you know of in your niche and/ or let Google or Techno cratics tell youth blogs writing posts on your keywords. Method 1: Start from the known. Visit and scan 5 to 10 blogs that are popular in your niche. Look out for posts within the past 30 days. Are there any recurring, similar trends in their posts? If so, that should give you an idea of what’s trending and hot topic ideas. Method 2: Technorati.com Blog search · Type in your keywords into the search box of Technocratic and Hit “Search” · Click “Click to refine this search“ and you will see results displayed as in the image below · Ensure to refine your search by selecting “Posts” and “Blogs” · You may want to play around with the High, Medium, Low and Any Authority – from the drop down menu · Next choose to “sort results by date” · Go to the search page where you’ll find posts at least 30 days old 6Ted Trainer
·         7. Brought to you by Ted Trainer- Strategic Marketing Tips Blog · Look at the posts and the number of comments they have. Pay attention to posts with lots of comments. The posts with very few comments indicate topics readers are not very interested in. · Now, take a few of the most related posts with the most comments, say 5 to 10 of them · Read the comments, scan for readers questions and recurring patterns in the comments. Identify recurring excitements – what are most readers expressing excitement and gratitude for, with regards to the post. These are pointers to what your readers would like to read about.Method 3: Google Search Blog search· Type in the Google Blog search URL in to your browser’s address bar · Enter your key phrases and hit the “search” button · Search for posts within the past month to see the top ranking blogs in your niche · Scan the first 10 blogs in the top results · Identify trending terms and popular topics Remember, you are looking for trending terms, for HOT topic ideas. Commenting on the top 10 blogs for your keywords is another good way to get back links.6. Google Search You can play around the Google Search options to find hot topic ideas. Explore the following Google Search features: · Blogs · Videos· News 7Ted Trainer
·         8 Ted Trainers - Strategic Marketing Tips Blog ·Discussions: You’ll find results for discussions in forums, groups, answer sites such as Yahoo Answers etc. · Books You can also filter your search by date, for instance select a category and sort by pat months (i.e. past 30 days). So much ways to filter your search and dig deeper…7. Yahoo Answers what are people asking about, that is related to your niche? Go to Yahoo Answers.com and search for your keywords. Remember to look out for what many people are asking. If many people are asking, it suggests that you can step in to provide answers on your blog – to get found when more people search for answers on that question.8. Article Directories Ezine Articles is the biggest article directory and it would give you a good insight into what is hot in your market. Hey check out this super-cool software before you go to ezines and type in your keyword. You may also want to check under the category of your market. Look out for posts of 30 days old or more. Use the same method as above to find the hottest topics authors (in your market) are writing about, and that readers are showing most interest in via comments? 8 Ted Trainer
·         9. Brought to you by Ted Trainer - Strategic Marketing Tips Blog 9. Your Blog Comments Your comments section might also help you find inspiration for new posts. Readers’ comments and questions in the comments section can provide you insights and inspirations on what to blog about. Respond to commenters’ questions and concerns. Doing this will help you learn more about your readers wants and sometimes get you going out of your comfort zone to research and find answers to satisfy your loyal readers.10. Your Stats what are your stats telling you? · What posts are most popular? An indication that if you write more posts or serialize the popular posts, you’ll get lots of readers. · What search terms are leading many people to your blog? What posts are being read by most visitors from the search engines? · What posts are least popular? Can you jazz them up or optimize them in any way to bring attention to them? · Maybe the title is not attention grabbing? The title many make an interesting topic look drab from afar? · What posts are bringing the most comments? · What posts are getting lots of re optimize. Finally…Thanks for reading. I hope you’ll take action to dig out hot writing ideas for your readers. This is very important because you want to be able to give them exactly what they want so that they’ll always come back for more, and even tell others about your blog. Once your blog readership keeps growing, you’ll find be motivated to keep researching more hot topics for writing inspirations and you’ll never run out of topic ideas again. Writing on the exact topics that more people in your market are searching for would provide you the best opportunity to be visible in the search engines. Blogging

How does blogging make you money? Well that's a good question. And an even better question is what exactly is blogging and how is blogging different from having a website? Let's explore these questions and answer a few more. To start lets define some words so we understand the vocabulary. Yes, there is a learning curve if you're going to make money by blogging you have to know the fundamentals. There's no such thing as going into something blind. If you do this you will surely fail in making money.
1. Blogging: An extension of social networking which sole purpose is to keep people informed.
2. Niche: A situation or activity specially suited to a person's interest. (Marketable Niche) in which that interest creates a positive cash flow.
3. Keywords (search): Can also be defined as key phrase more specifically a single word or groups of word together used by a person to search for something on the internet.
For the new comer niche and keywords may sound a little terrifying. There important for all if making money online is a passion. So what do you blog about? How extensive should the content be in a blog? Well that will be up to you, but by rule of thumb most articles directories akin to minimum 400 to 500 words.
Blogs are different from a typical website. Blogs are away for folks to interact with each other and share like mind ideals with others; much like a forum, but with a twist. As the blogger you have complete control of your blog. A website is informative and you can promote products, conversely the information seen usually does not change. Blogs are like a person's daily diary and you can promote multiple products routinely. Blogs also allow you to accept information from others who are experts in the particular niche.
For example:Let's say you have a product you want to promote, increasing traffic for exposure. One way of doing this would be to visit like mind blogger sites, introduce yourself and talk about your interest. Create an online relationship with the blogger let them know you're interested in the same niche and then "ask". Simply ask if you can post information to their blog with relevant information. If they "Agree" submit your information to them and make certain to include your website and/or any other links to the product.
You see the difference? You'll find more than likely it's easier to (blog on blog) for free advertisement. Paying for an advertisement spot on a website or newsletter can be expensive and for a beginner we like to keep capital to a bare minimum.
Summarize: Find a marketable niche, build a website and interface (plug in) with your blog. Before actually creating the blog I suggest writing 20 - 30 articles, this guarantee's enough information for about a month. Then start writing an article twice a week if not more, you should never run out of material. Start including clickable links to the product. You can also have classified ads created that are clickable; this is a professional appearance and fun. Next start drawing traffic, talk to folks while you're out, join a few forums (niche) related, attend seminars and spread the blog by word of mouth. Never stop promoting yourself Advertise, Advertise, Advertise.

What are the 5 Ways to Prevent Bad Breath In Dogs
1. The first is to change your dog's diet to one more suitable such as a high quality and easy to digest food.
2. Clean your dogs teeth regularly using a specially formulated toothpaste and toothbrush for dogs. (Human toothpaste can upset your dogs stomach). Use good quality chews designed especially for help in cleaning dogs teeth.
3. Have regular checks at your vets as they will be able to pick up signs of kidney disease better than you.
4. Have regular check ups at your vet and again the vet will be able to identify any liver problems usually before they start.
5. Your vet will be able to identify any problems such as diabetes from the signs that you would probably miss.
Prevention is better than a cure when caring for your dog and often a regular visit for health checks will prevent more serious illness.

Successful blogging doesn't happen by accident! Whether you have a blog that was created to post information and updates about your business, or are blogging about a passion or hobby in order to make money through relevant affiliate products or ad revenue, blogging is more than adding a post every now and then. How to blog successfully? Here are a few tips that will help you succeed as a blogger.
Successful blog marketing tips
Keep in mind that a blog should be updated often. Post to your blog several times each week, if not daily - and keep the content relevant. Your blog should be written generally around one topic, although there may be many sub-topics. For example, you can have an internet marketing blog that discusses blogging, content writing, affiliate marketing, social media, etc. - but you don't want to talk about your pets on your blog!
Create great content that your readers want to share. Make it informative, valuable, and even humorous at times. Give your words personality; people love to read content that either tells them how to do something or is entertaining.
Optimize your posts. You never want to over-do it with keywords, but do optimize your content by including keywords in the title of your post, a time or two in the body (depending upon the length of your post).
Link out to highly trafficked blogs in your niche. Search engines like it when you occasionally link out to other popular blogs with a high amount of traffic, so link to a great post you read on someone else's blog, as long as it is relevant to the conversation.
"Guest" post on a popular blog in your niche. Many bloggers LOVE free content, but it must be relevant to the topic of their blog. Write a good article that is original, and offer it for free to the owner of the blog - IF they will include a link to your site. Write a brief bio at the end of your article that includes a link to your website. By guest posting on a highly popular blog, you can enjoy that blog's traffic!
Share your best posts on Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites. Spread the word anywhere and everywhere you can.
Be creative, and keep in mind that successful blogging takes work. You cannot post whenever you think of it (once a month) and expect to have a popular blog. Your readers want to come back to find something new and exciting!
Put these successful blog marketing tips to work for your blog, and keep after it. Be consistent and patient, and the rewards will come.

Lets go a couple of years into the past. Back when I had no first-hand experience with blogging, back then I was active blog reader and commented all the time and already knew a couple of the big names in the blog atmosphere. I never imagined I would be able to build a community of thousands of readers, who I interact with every day.
Back when I was still a blogging newbie, I believed that success required a lot of time and money. But in the end, things turned out to be a bit different from what I expected. I learned that doing the right things and doing them well was just enough. In this post I will reveal the steps that helped me turn my blog into an active community.
Reading and Researching
The ideas for creating my blog didn't come from nowhere. Before I had one other blog that was a trial and error, a testing ground, somewhere to practice. But it laid the foundations for my blogging adventure.
Before creating my "serious" blog, I was researching other blogs in my niche that wrote on similar subjects. I tried to get to know their authors by actively commenting and guest posting. I paid close attention to how they were utilizing strategies, leveraging social networks and how were they connecting and engaging with their readers. I learned a lot from my observations and now knew which strategies work and which don't, which traffic sources are valuable and which aren't. It is a very time consuming part and I know some people are eager to just get going. But it is a very important part of the process which will almost absolutely guarantee success as you will learn all there is to know about blogging, what drives traffic and most importantly your competition.
Setting Goals
These days everyone likes to talk about goals how important they are. But personally for me, setting goals and then achieving them leaves you with a motivational feeling, which is a key to blogging. The reason I say this is that a lot of times, especially when you first start out, you might feel like giving up, it's not easy being a newbie. But setting milestones and accomplishing them, you will get that feeling of success you crave for so much. Even when you start getting tons of followers, fans and subscribers, silly questions like, "what's the point of all of this?" might creep into your head. By setting goals and reaching the, you measure your progress which gives you something to focus on and keeps silly questions like this out of the way.
Being Specific is the key
Creating goals to keep yourself motivated will only work if you set the right ones. The key is being very specific. For example you might set yourself a goal to increase traffic to your blog. First thing you should do is find out as much information as possible about all the various ways to increase blog traffic. Talk to leaders in your niche, discover what they did then choose a way that you think will work best for you.
One way I achieved traffic growth was by commenting on other blog posts. You should focus on a mixture of blog leaders and blogs that provide do-follow links. Engage in conversations and maybe even suggest one of your own blog posts. Then you need to focus on commenting regularly and make sure your one of the first people commenting. Being among the first people commenting not only allows you to stand out more, you will also have more chance of getting a reply from the author. Don't underestimate yourself, the point behind goal setting is to make progress NOT PERFECTION
Prioritizing
As you start regularly posting content and your blog starts to grow you will realize that you have more and more tasks to worry about. As your visitor numbers start to grow you will realize you need to post more often, more relevant and in depth content to have them come back, subscribe and share your material.
If you really want to grow your traffic then being constantly active on a number of different social platforms is a must. There's a lot to think about here as writing blog posts only take around quarter of your daily time. You will also have to answer the comments people leave on your blog, comment on other blogs, be active on social sites like Facebook and Twitter, manage other blogging networks like My Blog Guest and Triberr and share your stuff on social bookmarking sites like Digg and Reddit not to mention worrying about SEO and blog design.
This is a lot to consider as you will spend most of your day socializing, writing and managing your blog and your audience, therefore prioritizing is a must. You need to create a list of things and priorities your daily tasks based on their importance. Writing new blog posts will be at the top of your list, while checking your email all the time should be at the bottom.
When I first started I focused on Twitter. Most of my time was spent building new friendships and gathering more followers as well as sharing my and others content on a daily basis. It paid off and now I have thousands of active readers that come to my blog from Twitter, a lot of them also share my stuff with their followers. But because I was on twitter all the time, I had less time to spend on Facebook and other blog commenting.
I now learned that leveraging social networks is much better than just focusing on one specific channel. I recently found that my twitter followers we mostly business owners and were mostly interested in business and marketing content while my Facebook fans were in 18-24 age range and were more interested in Tech and Social trends.
Reaching Your Goals
It might seem straightforward to some but success comes from networks and not just straight lines. One of my main goals is to connect with as many people as possible. Not just follow them but find out about what they do and tell them about myself. A goal to have 50,000 twitter followers is good but there is a difference between a follower and a fan/friend. Fans and friends will be more engaged wile followers are a lot less likely to click on a link you tweet or respond to you update or question. So setting a straightforward goal like the one above is all well but remember there are specific steps you need to take and plan how you can get the most out of the time you put in otherwise you can achieve your goals but still fail.
As a blogger you will face a lot of challenges and will have to adapt to many changes. Sometimes you will realize that things don't turn out the way you planned. This is not the result of poor preparation, it's just the way world works. Being able to adapt to change may well be one of the greatest keys to success for us all!
